Easy To Follow Meditation Steps

meditation stepsEven though you try hard to live a simple and trouble-free life, it tends to be impossible. Life is full of trials and struggles. We experience a lot of things each day that can change our moods in an instant. With everything that goes on day and night, our minds can’t help but be stressed out.

One way of combating stress is through meditation. Meditation can clear the mind from all the unwanted thoughts and ideas that burden us, which lead to poor performances.

You might have heard about it already but don’t know the meditation steps that you should take. There are actually different kinds of meditation techniques that are based either on religion or otherwise. All of these seek to find that inner tranquility which is the defense against the negative aspects that we encounter on a day-to-day basis.

I’ll be sharing some basic breathing meditation steps. This is a good place to start learning meditation. We must try to make our mind clear and coherent so that we can separate the positive from the negative thoughts.

The first thing to do is to look for a quiet place; preferably somewhere you won’t get disturbed by anyone. Make yourself seated in a comfortable position, any position will do as long as you feel comfortable. Try to keep your back straight to avoid getting sleepy.

Your goal in meditation is to prevent any distractions. So, as you sit, your eyes should be closed and your attention focused on your breathing pattern. There’s no special way of breathing, just do it naturally.

Concentrate on this activity, the way the air enters and leaves your lungs. This is the center of your meditation, your focus. As you solely give attention to your breathing you may start to feel like there is nothing else around, just the air that goes in and out of your body, breathe in… breathe out…

Your mind will get a bit busier at the beginning, thinking a lot, changing from one idea to another. You may feel somewhat confused but that’s how it is at the start of meditation. It makes you recognize how busy your mind really is. You will be tempted to pursue these thoughts, which will get you out of focus but you must resist that. Just keep your mind on your breathing pattern and let it stay there until you finish.

If you were able to do these meditation steps and were successful in clearing your mind of anything except for your breathing for about 15 minutes, then I congratulate you as a beginner.

You will definitely learn a lot more if you pursue meditation on a consistent basis. You will find that at the end of each session, you’ll feel lighter because even for just awhile, you are able to lift all the things that are burdening you.

Each time you experience this, you will feel less stressed out which should lead you to react more positively to any situations that you encounter every day.
